Happy New Year to my lovely readers!

Today I am featuring traditional Korean dress called a Hanbok 한복. Though the origins of hanbok date far back in time (at least 3 BC), today’s hanbok descends from the Joseon time period. Worn daily until 100 years ago, most people now wear hanbok for special occasions, namely New Years (like today!), weddings, and Korean Thanksgiving.

I love the vibrant colors and detailed embroidery of hanbok. In this case, I’m wearing a traditional jacket (look at how vibrant the blue is) over my pink hanbok.

Another tradition on New Years is to play Yutnori 윷놀이. I spent a lot of my childhood years flipping these yut sticks.
